Thanks to the recent port of fring to the iPod, fring has been getting lots of great media and blogosphere coverage from around the world. Just take a peek at five items from this week.

From the UK comes “The Register”. After discussing various mobile apps, we read “with Fring users can even make (genuinely) VoIP calls for free…” (See here)

From WebWorkerDaily in San Francisco, in an article entitled “Make Your iPhone Work for You”, fring is listed along side nine other apps “…handpicked for enhancing the iPhone’s web worker smarts.” (see here)

From the blogosphere, there ’s “Technology Blogging Web”, a well crafted and well thought out blogspot blog (see here) .

TBW says “The reason why the Fring iPhone app is being appreciated so much is because of the fact that it is the first ever mobile VoIP app publicly available for the iPhone. Though some other VoIP applications for the iPhone have released already but what makes Fring for iPhone unique is its great iPhone-compatible interface and user-friendly features.”

“Fring for iPhone not only lets you make free calls but also allows you to get connected to your favorite IM service e.g. MSN, Yahoo IM or Google Talk. The only downside of this app is that unlike most other iPhone apps, it does not work with the iPod Touch but a special version for iPod Touch may soon be out.”

Hey, I didn’t know that! Gotta get down to that fancy new apple store they are quietly moving ahead with here (see here and here ) in Sydney. And soon!
