MSN on fring!

Hi guys,

You asked for it!
You have challenged us to bring it on!!
You grumbled why it is taken us so long!!!

I am thrilled to announce that….. At last…..MSN is here!

MSN on fring voip application

With the fring server update, we’re now supporting the Microsoft network (MSN). Yes, yes, I know, fring is the only mVoIP application to do real P2P VoIP and support Skype, GTalk and MSN.

As this is truly a preview version, please note the following:
1. From time to time, incoming calls from MSN buddies might not go through
2. You should wait several sec between each call attempt to the same MSN buddy

Have a great weekend.

And this so fast and without the need to install a new version, you simply rock! :-)

Now that MSN is on board please consider how to improve the user interface for more efficient multi-chat handling.

    Thanks!

Nice job! This app is getting to kick some ass. I know that VOIP is the main thing, but some polishing on the text chat part also would be nice. Like different text color for the two parties, not losing my typed text when I got a reply and so on. Also custom “ringtones” and vibra only mode. Keep up the good work.

Fring Adds MSN To Its Client App

Recently, news on the net introduced an application called Fring, whice allows Skype and GTalk users to take advantage of chatting and calling without desktop compatibility. Not too long after the announcement of the Beta app, MSN has been added

I live in Greece, I have a nokia N80. Skype and SkypeOut work perfectly with Fring (over 3G and/or wifi). But not MSN : I can only chat and/or invite the other party for a call (or receive the other party’s invitation for a call), but unable to establish the connection.

The voice quality of VOIP over MSN is really remarkable. However, the stability of the connection is not quite so good. I had to restart fring every time whenever it encounters an error sending a response to MSN, either in Chat or a call.

Like another user, I hope that the blocked contacts can be filtered off as well. Another nice to have feature would be support of the speaker phone of my E61.

Thanks a lot for a real exciting app, and trusting that these bugs will be removed in the next release.

I have just installed fring, i set up gtalk and skype, it worked fine, i then set up msn, it works fine, but fring does a strange reset thing every few seconds, the logo changes and then resets and you are sent back to the top of your contact list. I have now disabled the msn connection and the resting has stopped.

    Hello,
Nice bit of software, works really well on my nokia n80, I use it all the time, and when im at my friends house with no service i use his wifi to call my friends or for then to call me. I also use it in hotspots, or just unlocked routers as i walk down my road. Only thing really missing now is to have video calling supported on msn, just like sharing web camera.
    Keep up the good work,
    Thanks

Fring Staff: PLEASE, please please implement Yahoo Messenger!

There is a HUGE opportunity here as XSeries on Three mobile (in Australia and possibly other countries) don’t support Yahoo Messenger for a number of phones like the Nokia 6120. If you added messenger support and promoted it, then your userbase could significantly increase!

In this way , everyone thats as an account in any of the worldwide Jabber Servers, would be able to talk to any worlwide other millions of users from the other systems. It would be the biggest online directory ever on the internet. Get it ????.

Yes – I’ll second the fact that voice call to MSN doesnt work anymore.

I imagine that’s cos MS are in the middle of rolling out a new version of MSN / Windows Live Messenger, but can we get voice support up and running again please?

    Otherwise , very cool app…

FYI… I have looked at Fring in the past, but was put off by the “enter your mob number” to download (I dont recall there being any other download option at the time.)

Now Fring continues to get great reviews in the expert press, I’m very impressed!

Please, let’s update to get MSN VOIP working plz

Hi Mike. This message is there to let your contacts know you are on mobile, and therefore might be replying slowly. You can turn it off in fring’s settings. Have a look in our user guide or contact our support team with your handset type and they’ll assist.
