fring is hosting an exclusive preview for its new fringOut service (sorry, the preview version 4.4.10 is only available on Nokia, other users stay tuned). fringOut lets you call any landline or mobile in the world for almost free all from your mobile phone.

So, now you can call your friends who are not yet on fring. Call Abbey in Atlanta, Bob in Berlin, Clara in Cambodia or David in Delhi, for ‘almost-free’.

If you’d like to be the first to try this paid service and start saving, visit our fringOut preview site here and get calling.

As always, chatting, calls and video calls to other fringsters and other internet friends is still completely FREE.

If you have questions about fringOut, you can check out our FAQ, our TOS see our user guide or drop us a line.

The pricing is so ridiculous. First of all there are hundreds of plans based on which area you are trying to call with in the same country (see e.g., for India) and the advertised price of 1c to India is nowhere to be seen. I already use Fring on my mobile to call through VoipCheap for 1c flat to any number in India (mobile or landline) without having to worry about the area code and see no advantage of using FringOut. VoipCheap also has the advantage of being a regular SIP service and even provides local access numbers for the same price.

I checked their site. Voip Cheap does not provide that rate. It 9 cents if you include VAT.

    Thanks for the info, @Sonam!

It is actually ActionVoip, I use VoipCheap for a few other countries, just confused. These two along with a bunch of other services are all owned by Betamax and not all services are have the best rates for all countries. Use the below table to find the best rate for the country(s) you often call:

    Irha Reply:

And if you are in US, VAT is not applicable whether it is for Betamax or Fring.

If I call a contact using fringout, what caller ID will they see displayed on their phone?

    [Reply]

    Tom Reply:

Usually, the recipient should get the call from a private unidentified number.

Guys, seriously?!, are you sure this is cheap? cause i see it EXPENSIVE! check the prices for Bulgaria – it is cheaper to get the plane to go there than calling with fring. so in conclusion – 3 biiiiiiiiiiig FAILS for fring – first dropping support for windows mobile users, then skype video calls, now this ridiculous fringOutOFMONEY service. And that is not enough – you continue practicing the silent ignoring of your users who continually ask you what is going on with fring for windows mobile. well after all, i think finally i can say for sure FRING IS USELESS for me!!!

I think fring callout very expensive. you have to consider and compare with VOIPACTION which is very very cheap, like call to Australia 1C USD for landline and 7C USD for mobile, moreover, call to Cambodia just 5c USD for both landlines and Mobile. This is the best of the VOIP. fring should release rate the same.

Can’t wait for this to come out on iPhone so I can try it! 1¢ is at least cheaper than Skype for US domestic and UK landlines.

One dumb question, though: Why are calls to Vodafone mobiles in the UK over 3 times the price of calls to mmO2 mobiles? Is that a matter of the individual companies setting their own rates?
