B-I-G Android NEWS: Nexus S, Activity Log, Better Voice…

It’s here! It’s here!
Today’s Android update makes your video calls, calls and chats better-er.
Though we like to keep our posts short, there is lots to say about this version.
Here are just a few highlights…
- NEW Notifications – Now you get all fring updates right to your home screen/ notification bar so you never miss a call, chat or other fring event
- FRESH Activity log – all your fring activities are listed in 1 activity log – calls, new friends, chats, video calls, history, system messages…
- IMPROVED Audio – major audio improvements on Jitter buffer so your calls are smoother
- ENHANCED Nexus S support – you lucky enough to have this bad boy? Video call us and show us it in action
- TASTY Gingerbread support (Android 2.3) – yum.
That’s a lot. Get it from the market and have a fringing great day!

Was wondering the same thing.
Symbian ^3 is stuck on a version from September 2010. Video call quality is terrible, but the worst problem is whenever I make a call and the proximity sensor is activated and I hang up, the menu key is RED and the battery charging indicator on top is on. I have to restart fring to fix this problem.
I’ve submitted a ticket about this over a month ago. Re-installing fring doesn’t help, neither does resetting or even re-installing my firmware as I’ve done all.
It’s a problem with the fring app.
When will an update be released?
I’m using a Nokia C7.

The new update has an icon in my status bar that I can’t remove. It keeps making me think I have messages waiting. Why is there not an option to turn this off? Also is there any plan to let us customize ringtones & alert messages? Beyond that it’s a great program. I recommend it all the time. I just don’t like having things cluttering my status bar. I do like the activity log. Now I’m not wiped out when my phone resets.

Please immediately release an update that removes the very dumb and annoying permanent fring notification icon. Read the comments in Android Market. You are losing countless users by adding this. The icon is completely unnecessary and nobody wants it there. The notification bar is cluttered enough. I’m a big supporter of fring but this icon has caused me to look for other app options, and clearly, I’m not alone. Thanks

Tom, I agree with the many comments to have opton to remove fring icon from notification bar. Better yet, to only have app display fring icon ONLY when there is a new message or activity. That is truly what the purpose of a notification bar. Please advise 1.when fix can be expected and 2. A link to the last fring android before this recent update without the notification icon inappropriately but constantly displayed in notification bar. Thank you

HI, have been using Fring on my Samsung Galaxy S with great success since Android 2.2 Froyo came out. Now the latest version breaks the function of the microphone on my headset (it’s been tested as working on a voice recorder app)
I’ve raised a support ticket for this but wondered if anyone else has the same problem, or if Fring tech would like to comment?
Is there a way to install the previous version until a fix is sorted?
