For a SIP call first u need a SIP account , and you need to buy call out minutes using your credit card etc.for starters try out gizmo5 . create a gizmo account and you can call anywhere in the world.Cheaper alternative – try out Vyke, its good too.

Yeah, it’s easy. Just use the ‘Go To’ menu , select SIP then select Other. You can use any SIP provider you want.

SIP is not possible on N73 as far as I think, You must have N95. 3G services Data plan is required too for Fring. GPRS sucks here.

Yes N73 is possible with FRING. The adverse reaction of FRING is the loudspeaker, which is not supported and automatically activated, and no way to stop. I have reported the matter to FRING but no action. Therefore, I stopped using FRING and switch back to other VOIP provider.

Just download fring. Activate via your email adress. Register any voip account. Then in menu SIP select other voip and enter your username password and proxy. To enter proxy use the google and search proxy ot that voip which you are using. Save all the data and enjoy. When you call it asks if you want to make phone call or sip call. Use sip call and u r done. Its great. If you dont understand feel free to mail me at amiablefren@gmail.com and I will write you in detail

Calls are not possible on the W705 with fring. The minifring version is a chat only version.

So, if your phone can already make SIP calls, such as the Mokia N95, which would need an account with a SIP service provider, allowing calls at their rates, Fring just adds to this, and still means I use my phone SIP capability, and the same SIP service provider and their call prices. I don’t really get what the benefit is??

By the volume of questions, Fring really needs to provide better instructions etc, so that all types of user can completely understand what to do etc. Otherwise, it’s guesswork, and many people will give up.

Fring on Android HTC Dream use to work will with my SIP (i have my own IP-PBX installed). I can just call extention 101 or any landline or mobile without issue….till lately updated to new ver fring, calling out via sip to landline and mobile failed.

Here is how i dial out to landline or mobile in the old ver fring:-

1. select the user you want to call from contact.
2. edit the contact number, for me is “0 followed by the actual mobile or landline number”
3. click on “sip”, that is it.

However now i can’t do that anymore with this new ver fring.

Any help?

I use fring on my Nokia 5530 (symbian S60 5th) with Broadvoice, U.S. Voip provider that allows multi-presence (up to 3 devices). That is, I pay one fee and have voip at both my home’s ATA and my cell running Fring.

With that use I notice one VERY important feature is missing in Fring’s SIP support: the ability to enter a seperate USER and a AUTH USER. Broadvoice needs a unique AUTH USER to detect multi-presence, the way they do this is to to append a suffix to the USER. example USER: “5055551234″, AUTH USER: “5055551234×33″. The “x33″ is t he suffix to differentiate which device I’m using to log in. Fring at this time does not support a different USER and AUTH USER. That’s a limiting factor….

Hello friends,

I am using Nokia 6120 with fring.It was very good using with old version. Before 1 week updated version comming & after that I cannot be able to add SIP account any more. In the box of User-Id I cannot type anything. I tryied sveral times, but failed.

I removed Fring & Re-install it. Now the problem becomes more. I cannot login with fring, even I cannot make a new account as well.

Do you have any solution for that?

I downloaded fring app onto my ipod touch2G. Then enabled voipbuster sip thru add-ons. After that, I am not able to make any calls via fring on ipod, though my voip buster account works. i am able to make calls thru my voipbuster client on laptop. is there anything missing?

Guys, after trying a few minutes I have been able to make call through fring SIP. Assuming that you have fring installed on your device you need to find “add-ons” on my iphone it appears under “more” tab, then you need to tap “SIP” where you will enter your VOIP account user name and password alongwith proxy of your voip provider, you can register with any voip provider like gizmo or voipcheap, voipwise or vbuzzer, (I used vbuzzer).
You need to have credit in your voip account and not neccessarily in your fring account.
Do make sure that you do not use any + while dialing a number. for US and Canada use 1 and for any other international dialing use 011 prior to country code with no + or 00.

hi, i have done all you have suggested without any success. I am in Australia. There is a section to select which country you are from…& I chose Australia which displays +61. Our area code is 07 however I believe that we drop the 0 in this case. I have tried every combination wiothout success. I have followed my sip providers specs & have no idea what is missing. Ive tried with the + without the + without the 0 & with the 0…aarrrgghhh

do you successfully login to your sip account with the green sip button enabled on your fring dialer? try dialing numbers as you dial with your sip software. I still end up in dial error if i dial with + and without a + it works fine. I am using it from Canada.

Hi,

I have installed Fring on my Galaxy S. I have a sip2sip account and I configured Fring for it. It works well. I can call 3333 and I get the test call music and I can call 4444 for the echo test as well.

However, I want to call another SIP line connected to another provider, in this case a Gizmo phone.

On the real SIP world, you just dial NUMBER@PROXY.SIPPHONE.COM where number is the gizmo account number. This is supposed to be a free call.

How do I do that on Fring, ie, how do I add the domain to the SIP number I am calling via SIP?

You will not see your SIP contacts, but you can dial using the dialer.

I tried to use an ekiga.net SIP account in Androids fring versions 3.1.1, 2.2.0.7 and 2.1.1.10 and it always tells me that cannot register

If I try the same account on same phone using sipdroid, it registers OK

To get a fring ID please download fring from http://www.fring.com/download
You cannot use fring on PCs.

Not able to make SIP calls anymore:

Hi,
After up-grading to 5.4.2.26 on 17th Oct, 2011, I am not longer able to make any SIP calls. This was working absolutely fine with older version. I have SIP account with youspeek.com and the same is working from my laptop.

Every time i try to make a SIP call it says “call terminated”

Can you please fix this asap? Also is it possible to download the old working solution till the time this is fixed?
