Created in 2006, the CTIA Emerging Technology (E-Tech) Awards program has celebrated and promoted some of the most innovative wireless products and services in the areas of consumer, enterprise and network technology.
Each year, nearly 300 applications are submitted and reviewed by a panel of recognized members of the media, industry analysts and executives . Products are judged on innovation, functionality, technological importance, implementation and overall “wow” factor.”

So what makes CTIA so important?
The CTIA awards are part of the International CTIA WIRELESS® show.  ”The International CTIA WIRELESS® show represents a $1 trillion global marketplace that brings together wireless and converged communications, wireless broadband, applications, mobile web and data.”  CTIA Wireless is one of the Largest Technology Events in the World! This also means it’s one of the most important gigs in the mobile calendar and taking a top award at this event will help take fring to new hights.

fringsters are you being harassed, threatened, intimidated or blackmailed by an unidentified person calling from private / withheld / blocked / restricted / unknown number?

intertel.co.za now offers a cool call unmasking service that can provide you with the calling person’s telephone number (plus whatever other subscriber information is available). The service works for both mobile and landlines and “costs R250 per day, and R750 per week”. Via News24

I took the service for a test spin recently using my landline, cellphone and even my FNBConnect account running via fring and I must say I found it the service works brilliantly.

Why take my word for it though take the service for a test run using the free live online support centre.

Hello fringsters,

We have some great news for all the users out there who’ve been waiting for a video supported version for the E71.

Since fring is all about sharing, we have a limited number of invitations for you to try out the new video supported version for the E71 and other Symbian 9.2 handsets.

The new pre-release version supports Skype and fring video calls over both 3G and WiFi.

If you’d like to be a part of the early access group all you need to do is fill out this form: http://bit.ly/fringE71

I’d like to emphasize the fact that this is a pre-release Alpha version. If you do not feel like being a part of the testing group you can wait a couple of weeks for the official version.

I’ll update the post once we run out of invitations.

Thanks,

SimonB
